Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Residents reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Southern State's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to 598 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28k power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the state.
